Diggiloo Diggiley (2002)

This is a later version of Diggiloo Diggiley in 2002, a guest performance at one of Eurovision Song Contest’s qualification rounds that year in Sundsvall, Sweden. You might notice some changes: Added pounds; golden shirts; and a lead singer who has transformed into Richard. I am still the handsome guy on the right side (your left).

Nice performance, and great support from the audience, who obviously knew all the words to the song, and sang along with you. I enjoyed the dancing too – I was surpised to see you all still had that routine “down pat” as it were. But I did spy a little something I guess you hoped no-one would notice. In the dance segment here, you all only did a single turn, instead of the “double” you all did at Eurovision 1984. Now I can just hear you saying “Aw, come on now, that’s asking rather a lot, isn’t it?” And you’d be absolutely right! Single or double turn – it doesn’t really matter – it was a great performance of your “trademark” song!

Skønt at se jer optræde igen, det bringer så mange gode minder frem.
I har netop fået jer en ny fan. Min søn på 1 ½ år, stod og dansede med, da jeg så videoen.

    Tak for mange gode oplevelser.

Amazing video, thanks for posting it! I was four years old when my mother introduced me to Melodifestivalen and the Eurovision Song Contest back in 1984. It was what made me interested in music, and “Diggiloo Diggiley” was the song that made me sit down by my grandparents piano to experiment with the keys. Within minutes, it had also become the first melody I managed to play (the second was the Eurovision theme!) so it means a lot to me.

I grew up as “the piano boy”, performing in church and in schools, and later together with my classmates in various short-lived rock bands. In 1996 I formed a new band with a friend and dived right into electronic dance music – and ended up having an exciting 8-year artist and producer career which I can look back at with great proudness today! No need to say that this was a heart-warming video to watch, right?🙂

I love this performance! It must have been such a ‘high’ to get that kind of reception and cheers from the audience.

    :o)
